Blue Ivy Performed a Dance Routine to Beyoncé's Song & She Slayed Just Like Her Mom
06/17/2019Not every child of a celebrity chooses to follow in their parents’ famous footsteps — but that doesn’t seem to be the case for Blue Ivy Carter. A video of Blue Ivy dancing to a Beyoncé song at her dance recital has surfaced and clearly, the famous daughter has inherited her mom’s notoriously amazing dance genes.
The 7-year-old recently performed at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy’s Spring recital in Los Angeles and absolutely stole the show in a routine set to Beyoncé’s cover of “Before I Let Go,” originally performed by Frankie Beverly and Maze. A video of her performance posted to TMZ shows Blue Ivy dancing her little heart out with a group of other kids — and she even pulled off an impressive split at the end of the routine!
It’s not clear if Blue Ivy has aspirations to become a global superstar like her mom, but this video proves that she’s definitely got the chops. She was front-and-center on stage wearing a white top, jean shorts and black sneakers. Blue Ivy reportedly danced three times during the annual recital, which was titled “Colors” this year. It’s impossible not to notice her serious dance skills in the clip, which definitely hints that Blue Ivy may be on the path to a career in the music industry. Being the daughter of two of the biggest names in music comes with a lot of public pressure, so this video is clearly getting a ton of attention.
This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen evidence that Blue Ivy’s inherited Beyoncé’s genes. Her famous mom posted a side-by-side picture of herself and Blue Ivy, both at the age of seven, to show just how strikingly identical they are to each other. “Someone made this comparison of me at age 7 and Blue at age 7,” Beyoncé wrote in the post’s caption. “My baby is growing up.”
Not only does Blue Ivy look almost exactly like Beyoncé did at the same age, but she also seems to have inherited her mom’s passion for music. Blue Ivy was featured on the track “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” off of Beyoncé’s Homecoming live album. The sweet recording of Blue Ivy singing her version of her mom’s song shows that she’s got potential to become a legitimate songstress. Once Blue Ivy finished her mini-performance to the applause from friends and family, Beyoncé adds that she’s “like mommy” — so clearly Blue’s mom believes she’s got superstar potential as well.
There’s no telling what Blue Ivy’s future holds, but we don’t think anyone would be surprised if we see her drop an album 10 years from now.
