Blue Ivy Is the Best Surprise in Beyoncé’s New Music Video

She gets it from her mama, y’all — 7-year-old Blue Ivy made a cameo in Beyoncé’s “Spirit” music video for Disney’s new live-action Lion King adaptation, and you can definitely feel the love from the Beyhive tonight. The video, which has already racked  over two million views on YouTube, is a stunning celebration of Africa and its culture. And while every element is breathtaking, from the scenery to the roughly one hundred outfits Beyoncé wears, fans can’t stop talking about Blue Ivy’s surprise appearance in the video.

During the four-minute-long music video, Blue Ivy — Beyoncé’s eldest child with Jay-Z — walks alongside her mother, with a cadre of women behind them. The best part? She’s styled to look exactly like Beyoncé, wearing a matching lavender dress. Not surprisingly, Blue Ivy seems perfectly at home onscreen, staring straight into the camera — just like her mom. And that look caught the attention of Beyoncé’s massive fanbase, arguably more than anything else in the music video.

“When your mama is Beyoncé but it don’t matter because you are Blue Ivy you are fully your own you,” one fan wrote, including a screenshot of Blue Ivy’s piercing stare. “I have said it before and I will say it again, every Virgo needs a Capricorn. Beyoncé was great before Blue Ivy, but since Blue Ivy, Beyoncé has been unstoppable,” another noted. Others joked that Blue Ivy’s cameo eclipses her even more, describing the video as “Blue Ivy ft. that girl from Destiny’s Child.”

If you’re wondering when and how you can get your hands on the song (other than watching Bey and Blue Ivy’s triumphant video on loop), it’s part of a 14-song album that will serve as a supplement to The Lion King’s official soundtrack. During a rare interview with Good Morning America, Bey called the album a “love letter to Africa” for which she “found the best talent from Africa.”

Of “Spirit,” in particular, Bey explained, “The concept of the video is to show how God is the painter and natural beauty in nature needs no art direction. It’s the beauty of color, the beauty of melanin, the beauty of tradition… it was important we weren’t just inspired by Africa but that we actually included and learned from the motherland.”

The compilation album, The Lion King: The Gift, features global artists and will drop the same day the movie is released on July 19.
