Zoe Ball admits colleague may ‘hate her’ as she shares news on-air

Zoe Ball, 52 may have sent her colleague into meltdown she shared the news of his nuptials live on air. The BBC star mentioned that the studio manager of the Radio 2 Breakfast show had recently got married and joked that he will “hate her” for spilling the news.

She said: “I haven’t seen him since. But he showed me pics this morning.”

Adding: “He will probably hate me for doing this.

Zoe wished the newlyweds well and congratulated the pair. Describing the pictures as “amazing”.

She reflected by saying: “You know in a world of dreadful news all the time. We say hoorah for love.”

This followed after the BBC veteran recently addressed her brief absence from the show.

Zoe often wakes up the nation at 6:30am with popular hits and showbiz interviews but she was noticeably absent last week.

She has been at the helm of the show since January 2019 – but often takes time out for other jobs within the BBC firm. And she revealed her absence was for important business ahead of the Coronation of King Charles next month.

Zoe thanked music icon Nicki Chapman for stepping in and covering her prime time slot.

Zoe became a household name when she hosted both the Radio 1 Breakfast Show and Radio 2 Breakfast Show after joining the broadcaster in 1997.

Although she first joined the corporation in 1994 as a co-presenter on SMart before moving into radio and becoming a firm favourite.

Although earlier this year the radio host addressed her future on the BBC breakfast show whilst jesting: “I’ll be lucky to be here two more years.”

This comes after a huge schedule change when Vernon Kay replaced Ken Bruce back in March.

Ken said he was “disappointed” that he had been asked to step down, particularly as he still had almost one month remaining on his contract
