Just minutes after Donald Trump‘s doctor made it seem like the president is doing well amid his battle with coronavirus, a White House source is painting a different picture.

A source who is familiar with Trump‘s condition sent an anonymous quote to the White House press pool shortly after the doctor’s press conference ended.

“The president’s vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care. We’re still not on a clear path to a full recovery,” the source said.

The identity of the source is unknown at this time, though reporters at Walter Reed have shared a video of Trump‘s chief of staff Mark Meadows chatting with the press pool moments before the statement was released.

Piers Morgan, who is a longtime friend of Trump and a journalist in the UK, tweeted that the source is Meadows.

Trump‘s doctor said during the press conference that the president is “72 hours” into his diagnosis, which is raising questions about the actual timeline of when he tested positive.
