New details are emerging in the tragic death of Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs.

The 27-year-old baseball player died on Monday (July 1) while in Texas for his team’s game against the Texas Rangers. The game has since been postponed by the MLB.

The Southlake Police Department told The Blast that Tyler was found unresponsive in his hotel room at 2:18pm. There is no foul play suspected in the death and an investigation is underway.

“Officers arrived and found the male unresponsive and he was pronounced deceased at the scene,” police said.

The emergency dispatch audio deemed the call to be a “medical emergency,” but a second call changed the situation to a “possible death investigation.”

We continue to send our thoughts and condolences to the Skaggs family during this difficult time.
