Sir Tom Jones took to social media and shared an “important tour update” with his followers. Last year, the veteran hitmaker announced that his European music tour had been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic with plans to resume in 2021.

The 80-year-old uploaded a statement on the micro-blogging site as he urged fans to check his tour schedule dates as changes have since been made.

It comes after Tom previously shared his regret about postponing the tour but urged his fans to “stay safe” as he offered an apology at the time.

The Voice UK judge has since revealed that some of his tour dates have been rescheduled for later this year.

However some fans were left “gutted” as they claimed their area had not been provided with a new show date.

In view of his 601,000 Twitter followers, Tom penned a lengthy statement where he explained the current situation.

He captioned the post: “Important tour update.”

Tom began: “Thanks for your patience and understanding as we continue to hope to be able to play as many planned live shows this summer as possible while ensuring everybody’s safety is carefully considered.

“It is so true, I can’t wait to be back on the stage performing for you as soon as I can!”

Tom continued: “But seeing that things are what they are at present, we’ve had to make some changes to the tour.

“For the latest information, please keep an eye on my website for both rescheduled and some NEW dates that have been confirmed, so that’s exciting!

“Hopefully as we move forward things will continue to open up and we can all be back together at a show… oh how I look forward to that day!”

Fans rushed to comment on the post, as some people shared their dismay that they had no rescheduled date.

One moaned: “Belfast, Cork and Dublin all cancelled with NO rescheduled date… Come on we want you over here in the close future.”

“There goes my vacation I planned around your tour dates – was hoping to attend at least three. Maybe an online concert for us fans? Stay safe Tom,” another commented.

A third penned: “Gutted it wasn’t rescheduled.”

“Gutted you cancelled Belfast can you not play a different venue?” a social media user quizzed.

A fifth added: “Tom I don’t see the Dublin date listed – has that been cancelled? Seeing you in Edinburgh again – can’t wait.”

Last year, the Delilah hitmaker announced he was postponing his tour due to the pandemic.

He wrote: “I’m really sorry to have to inform you that my shows scheduled for this summer have had to be postponed until next year.

“As you most likely are aware, public performances are sadly not going forward as normal for just about everyone who works in music and entertainment.”

Tom added that he “loves performing” but everyone’s safety comes first.
