Tess Daly: Strictly host’s husband Vernon Kay denies split as fan quizzes their marriage

Vernon Kay, 45, responded to a comment regarding his 16-year marriage to Tess Daly, 50, who presents Strictly Come Dancing with Claudia Winkleman. A fan wrote on his Instagram page asking whether he and Tess have been living “separate lives” due to the lack of photos they post of each other on Instagram.

Vernon captioned the shot of his two daughters, Phoebe, 14, Amber, 10, whom he shares with Tess: “After being in the Middle East for a week, no better feeling than coming home.”

The social media user wrote underneath a snap of his children at the beach: “Feels like you and @tessdaly are living separate lives. I hope not. Love you guys.”

Vernon doesn’t often post images with his wife, while the Strictly Come Dancing host hasn’t shared a picture with her husband since the summer.

The married couple have also not been captured on a public appearance together for a few months, their last being the Celebrity Cricket Day event in July.

Despite the lack of photos, the TV personality explained they prefer to keep their family images private.

Vernon replied to the fan: “Pictures of our family life are all labelled nicely on an iPad or in Apple photo books for us to share, as a family.

“No need to invite the world into our home life, some do, but it’s not for us. We are 100 [per cent]. Thanks for asking.”

The person replied: “Great stuff. I b****y love you guys.”

Another added: “Good for you. Just because you and Tess are in the public does not mean you can’t have a private life.

While Tess wrote in the comment sectiton: “My birthday trip. Special memories,” alongside love heart emojis.

Meanwhile, Tess recently spoke out about raising their two daughters, and said how they’re doing having a teenager.

On an episode of the Scummy Mummies podcast, the Strictly Come Dancing presenter admitted she “loves” being a mum as she dished out her advice for others.

Speaking about being a parent, she spilled: “I do my best, as we all do… I have two girls, one’s 10, one’s very soon to be 15, as she keeps telling me, well warning me.

“‘Mum I’ll be driving in two years,’ argh! Taunting us with that.”

She continued: “I love being a mum, I love it, I love talking parenting, it’s an endlessly fascinating conversation. It always looks easy from the outside.”

Tess went on to reveal how “challenging” it is raising a teenager and having to understand their hormonal changes.

When the hosts asked Tess for her advice, she spilled: “Kill them with kindness, let them know they’re loved when it’s challenging.

“Obviously, I’m a parent of a teenager now and that has its challenges.”

She explained: “Eye rolling alone, it’s hard, they’re coming from a place when they’re getting to grips with all these hormones, and they’re just trying to figure everything out in their own minds and they just need to know that they’re loved.

“Whenever you’re being authoritative, it’s from a loving place, for the greater good.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight on BBC One at 7.10pm.
