Vincent Simone, 43, who appeared as a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing from 2006 until 2012, has opened up about the possibility of returning to the programme. His comments come after he was invited back to choreograph the dance routines a few years ago.

The Italian dancer joined Strictly with his professional partner Flavia Cacace in 2006 after wowing audiences with their Argentine Tango the year before.

Opening up on his Strictly experience, Vincent said: “Well, I loved every single minute of being on Strictly.

“I was lucky enough that this big West End producer came and offered myself and Flavia, one of the theatres in the middle of London and we just took the opportunity, to be honest.

“I mean, we’d never done theatre before that, we just wanted to take a challenge.

“If you’re the top of the class in what you do, you always want to try different things.”

Addressing a possible show return, Vincent admitted he would definitely grab the opportunity.

In July, he told Express.co.uk: “Yeah [I would return] because obviously, we left Strictly to go into the West End. We had been very successful.

“Then Strictly called me back to choreograph Argentine Tango.

“I had done it for three years. We choreographed beautiful dances for Debbie McGee, Alexandra Burke, Joe McFadden. You name it.

“It was amazing going back.”

Vincent continued: “I’ve always said if Strictly asked me to come back I would say ‘yes.’ Especially to perform.

“You do something that you love so much.”

He added: “You just take a little break to do other things but now if Strictly said, ‘oh, Vincent come in and do one of your amazing Tangos’ or ‘could you come and do the Christmas special’ – which I won – I would love to do that.”

Elsewhere, the professional dancer dished on Anton Du Beke joining the judging panel.

The veteran star said it was “about time” the dancer was given a permanent spot on the panel.

Earlier this year, it was announced Anton, 56, would replace Bruno Tonioli on Strictly.

“It was about time,” Vincent shared.

“I was really excited about him joining [the show] because like myself being a professional dancer to being a top judge on one of the biggest shows on the planet.”

He went on: “I’m really proud of him. I’ve watched him. We are very good friends. I’ve known him since I was 17 years old. We used to compete on the dancefloor in competitions.

“He always joked about me being Italian. Always had good banter. He is one of the funniest people I know.”

Strictly Come Dancing: The Final airs tonight on BBC One at 7.15pm.
