In a TikTok livestream, the ‘Only Murders in the Building’ actress tells her fans that taking the medication for her lupus often causes her to gain weight, but she ‘would rather be healthy’ than be anything else.

AceShowbizSelena Gomez knows what is good for her and she doesn’t let people’s body-shaming comments divert her focus. The actress/singer has accepted that she will never be a model when addressing her fluctuated weight.

In a clip from her recent TikTok livestream that has been shared on Twitter, the 30-year-old told her fans that taking the medication for her lupus often causes her to gain weight and vice versa. “[When I’m taking it, I] tend to hold a lot of water weight, and that happens very normally. When I’m off of it, I tend to lose weight,” she said on the video-sharing platform.

“I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going through, and no one knows the real story,” the “Only Murders in the Building” star continued, “I just want people to know that you’re beautiful, and you’re wonderful.”

Noting that it’s not always rainbows and butterflies, she stressed what’s important for her is her health. “Yeah, we have days where maybe we feel like s**t,” she admitted, “but I would rather be healthy and take care of myself. My medications are important, and I believe that they’re what helps me.”

Talking about dealing with her body image, the former Disney starlet shared, “Not a model, never will be. And I think they’re awesome, mind you. I’m just definitely not that.” She added, “I just wanted to tell you I love you guys, and thanks for supporting me and understanding. And if not, go away, ’cause honestly I don’t believe in shaming people for [their bodies] or anything.”

Back in January, Selena fired back at trolls who body-shamed her following her appearance at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards. “I’m a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays,” she said in an Instagram Live video while talking to her nine-year-old sister Gracie Elliott Teefey. Gracie appeared to agree when Selena turned to her sibling and asked, “Right?” before the actress went on laughing, “But we don’t care.”
