Sam Hunt has earned his sixth No. 1 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart, as his “Kinfolks” advanced 2-1 on the list dated February 29.

According to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, “Kinfolks” logged 36.6 million audio impressions in the tracking week ended February 23, an increase of 5% over a week earlier.

The song, co-written by Hunt, Zach Crowell, Jerry Flowers and Josh Osborne, hit No. 1 on both the Country Aircheck and Billboard country charts.

“When I think of ‘kinfolks,’ when I think of that phrase, I think of my family, but also I think about just, my people back home – even beyond my family, just buddies and people who’ve been a part of my story from the beginning,” said Hunt.

He added, “I’ve made a lot of new friends and met a lot of new people who are important to me as I’ve moved away from my hometown, but that core group is still that core group and always will be. It’s like that old saying, ‘you can’t make new old friends’ or whatever.”

“Kinfolks” is Hunt’s sixth No. 1 at country radio, with his first having been “Leave the Night On” in 2014. “Take Your Time,” “House Party,” “Make You Miss Me” and “Body Like a Back Road,” are the other No. 1s from Hunt.

Hunt’s last rise to the top was in 2017, when his “Body Like a Back Road” ascended on the list and set a slew of records, including staying atop the hot country songs list for 34 weeks.

His new album, Southside, is set to be released on April 3.
