Protecting my Princess

I’m getting asked constantly about Princess having a boyfriend. What I will say is that I’m really stressed out at the thought. I’m an overprotective dad. Many of you will remember when I used to joke when the kids were younger that Princess would be a nun!

But I’ve learnt I can’t treat the girls differently from the boys. Whatever rules I had for Junior at 15 should be the same for Princess. It’s the right decision, although an incredibly stressful one for any parent!

Dad dilemma

At 83, Al Pacino is set to become a dad again. He, alongside Robert De Niro, 79, who also welcomed a child recently, are two of my favourite actors. But are they too old to become dads again? That’s what everyone is asking.

Personally, I think anyone is entitled to do what they want, but the sad thing about this situation is that you have to think about how old their kids will be when their fathers are no longer around.

There’s no denying they could be amazing dads, but time is limited as a parent and in their case, considerably shorter, so it must be very difficult.

The hosts with the most

This Morning is a topic on everyone’s radar at the moment. Many are asking who will take over.

There are some great options – Alison and Dermot are fantastic together. I think they’ve got a great dynamic. But there are many other presenters that could also do well. Time will tell.

Presenting Pete

It’s been a bit of a mad but wonderful week for me! For the first time ever I co-hosted the GB News breakfast show with Ellie Costello. It was a really great experience. Obviously, Eamonn Holmes’ shoes are very hard to fill!

I think it came as a surprise to some people that I was presenting, but it’s actually a job I’ve been doing since my early twenties. I’ve hosted Miss World every year with an audience of over 2 billion watching worldwide.

I had amazing feedback and a great response all round. After covering Eamonn on GB News, I’d definitely be open to other presenting roles!

Savvy on social

When it comes to social media, I’ve always said that it’s incredibly difficult to try to stop your children using it after a certain age. As parents, we can only do so much – you might think your kids aren’t on it, but that’s not always the case. I remember once I kept Princess off Instagram and Junior came home from school and said during lunch she was on her friend’s account.

I think it’s difficult to think banning it works. For me, it’s more about teaching them how to be safe online. Now that we live in an age where you can find anything and everything on the internet, putting measures in place like using parental controls can help. But also encouraging your children to be aware of trolls.

Also telling them to avoid getting into “tit for tat” with people – as soon as you read anything negative, block that person.
