Katherine Ryan has given a defiant response after rapper Slowthai was accused of making her feel 'extremely uncomfortable' on stage at the NME Awards last night.

The pair came face to face on stage at the raucous bash, with the musician appearing to make a pass at the comedian in a bizarre exchange.

He urged Katherine to 'smell my cologne' and told her "You ain't ever had anyone play with you like me" as he leaned into her face and put his arms around her.

Footage of the incident began to circulate on social media with many fans commenting on how awkward Katherine looked.

The Doorman rapper began by telling Katherine 'smell my cologne', adding 'smells good don't it?'

He then addressed the comedian as his 'baby girl' and said: "If you wanna do something see me later yeah?" and "You ain't ever had anyone play with you like me."

"She wants me to tend to her flowers," Slowthai then quipped to the crowd.

A none impressed Katherine sarcastically retorted: "You are like the hottest guy I've ever seen."

Not getting the joke, Slowthai teased: "Exactly so stop playing with me."

Katherine then hit back with an x-rated joke that won huge cheers from the audience. "Let's hear it for, erm, So Hot, he's So Hot," sneered Katherine.

As the rapper left the stage, Katherine quipped: "Thank you Mike from Love Island,' before adding: "You are younger than my babysitter."

After the show, the Katherine took to social media to confirm she wasn't intimidated in response to a huge backlash over the rapper's antics.

She wrote: "He didn’t make me uncomfortable. This is why we need women in positions of power. I knew he had lost from the moment he opened his mouth like any heckler coming up against a COMIC – not a woman – a COMIC. I was operating 2/10. What a sweet boy. I defused it. Tonight was fun!"

Slowthai, 25, caused controversy again at the bash by appearing to chuck what appeared to be a champagne glass at a member of the audience who heckled him.

He launched into the crowd and had to be restrained after first chucking his microphone.

A man in the crowd picked it up to call him a 'wasteman'. Slowthai then reacted by hurling his drink before leaping off stage to confront them.

After the ceremony, Katherine also shared a video on Instagram, initially posted by Laura Whitmore, of Slowthai grabbing her microphone.

"Happy to announce my new relationship," she joked in the caption.

Katherine had attended the bash with her partner Bobby Kootstra who she entered into a civil partnership with last year.

Slowthai – real name Tyron Kaymone Frampton – hit the headlines again last September as he held up a dummy of Boris Johnson’s decapitated head at the Mercury Prize Awards.

The Northampton born star was nominated for his album Nothing Great About Britain.
