Strictly Come Dancing professional Neil Jones, 38, is keen to dance with Meghan Markle, 39, after watching Suits during lockdown, in which she played paralegal Rachel Zane. The dancer acknowledged Prince Harry, 36, is a fan of the show after he made an appearance via video link, to send his friend and former soldier JJ Chalmers good luck last year.

At the time, the Prince said of his friend: “I’m so genuinely proud. You’re not a dancer, proving that you can do anything you put your mind to, which is amazing.”

When asked who he would like to dance with on the show, Neil revealed: “We all get excited if there’s anyone there from royalty, maybe if Meghan wants to come and give it a go.

“That would be great, I’d never watched Suits before and I’ve been watching Suits, so Meghan come on, let’s do it!

“Harry likes the show, so maybe he can push her into it.”

Neil added he would also like to see producers introduce wheelchair dancing to the show.

“I’ve said we’ve never had any wheelchair dancing on there yet,” he added.

“I used to work with wheelchair dancing so that would be something interesting to me.”

Neil joined the BBC dance show back in 2016.

In 2019, he was partnered up with his first celebrity on the main show – football pundit Alex Scott.

At the time, they were both single and sparked romance rumours after growing close as friends.

Neil had announced his split from wife Katya Jones just days before the series returned.

The dancing duo laughed off romance rumours at the time and insisted they were just good friends.

When quizzed about the rumours, Neil said: “You’re always going to have people saying things, we dance up close together, we’re good friends, and you even get fans who are like, ‘But oh I do hope you get together’ and it’s just one of those things that happen.

“You turn around and just smile and get on with what you’re doing.”

The dancer said he is still in contact with Alex and regularly exchanges messages with her about football.

“We talk all the time. She’s nice and busy, I’m always happy when I see her doing well with stuff, she knows it.

“Sometimes I’ll send her a little message with the football and I’m like, ‘Do you agree with that? Should that have happened? What do you reckon?’

“I send her little messages,” he added.

Addressing abuse she received following reports she could replace Sue Barker on A Question Of Sport, he added: “It’s a life thing that when someone is doing well, there’s always going to be people there knocking them down.

“She’s so positive she just takes it on the chin and gets on with what she’s doing.”

The football pundit was wrongly announced as the new anchor of the show by Gary Lineker on Twitter last year, however a new line-up is yet to be released
