Heather Morris led Glee stars in paying tribute to Naya Rivera on the year anniversary of her death.

The 33-year-old, who played Santana Lopez on the musical drama, died after going missing during a boat ride on Lake Piru with her son Josey, on July 8, 2020.

Taking to Instagram, Heather shared a photo of the late actress with fans, and also unveiled her new tattoo, which said: ‘Tomorrow is not promised’ – one of Rivera’s final tweets.

Beside the post, she wrote: ‘It hasn’t gotten easier to write a caption. You are the brightest star in my eyes Naya Rivera.

‘I’m so grateful GOD LAYED A HAND and brought us together as best friends, mum friends, scene partners, and everything in between.

‘Your legacy lives on in kindness and being “that sassy queen” in my eyes. I love you forever bebe girl [sic].’

Kevin McHale followed suit with a snap of Rivera in a colourful dress, with the caption: ‘I miss you. Every single day.’

Matthew Morrison and Chris Colfer simply shared photos of the mum-of-one along with a love heart emoji on their respective pages.

As Jenna Ushkowitz uploaded an image of Rivera in a red dress on stage, adding ‘Always a light, always with us. My heart is with you and your family today. Love you Nougs.’

Rivera disappeared on July 8, while out boating on Lake Piru with her young son, five, who she shares with ex-husband Ryan Dorsey.

It is believed she got into difficulty and accidentally drowned while swimming, but not before making sure that Josey was safely back on the boat.

He was found sleeping alone shortly after, with passersby raising the alarm and sparking a search.

Rivera’s body was recovered five days later, with her cause of death being noted as ‘accidental drowning’.

Fans have made sure to remember her today, offering their condolences online.
