Gardeners’ World host Monty Don has taken to Instagram to share the plan for his beautiful garden, which is regularly seen on the popular BBC Two gardening show. The detailed drawing outlined the important components of the TV presenter’s two acre estate, including the grave of his beloved dog Nigel, who passed away earlier this year.

The 65-year-old captioned his post: “I have often been asked for a plan of the garden – this is pretty accurate and can be seen in glorious widescreen on my website montydon.com.”

The numbered garden plan, which he shared with his 655,000 followers, showed the location of elements which often appear on the programme, such as the cottage garden, the paradise garden and the potting shed.

Number 15 on the illustration is listed as “Nigel’s Grave”.

Noticing the image displayed the pooch’s final resting place, Instagram followers and fans took to the comments section to share their thoughts.

“Ah bless you beautiful Nigel, right in the middle,” one follower wrote, drawing attention to the central location of his burial spot. Sharing a similar sentiment, another fan added: “I love the fact that Nigel is in the centre of things – as always.”

“I love this – it’s really helpful and interesting having this overview and seeing how all paths will always lead to Nigel,” a third follower commented.

“This is wonderful. My heart panged when I read number 15 though!“ a fourth emotional fan wrote, while another sweetly added: “Nigel part of the garden forever.”

Monty’s dog Nigel died in May, six days before his 12th birthday.

The gardener had previously said the golden retriever had helped him with his battle with depression.

The father-of-three has two remaining dogs, Nell and Patti, who are regularly seen on his Instagram account and on Gardeners’ World.

The popular programme will take a break from TV screens for the winter and return with more gardening tips early next year.
