Meryl Streep’s lookalike daughter Louisa Jacobson will be appearing in the new hit period drama The Gilded Age. Landing on HBO and Sky Atlantic today, the series is created by Downton Abbey writer Julian Fellowes.

Louisa is Meryl’s youngest daughter with her husband Don Gummer, who is a sculptor.

The star had been studying acting in both America and the UK before landing her role.

She attended the British American Drama Academy in Oxford before going to the Yale School of Drama.

Her first professional role was as Mary Dalton in the play Native Son.

She also appeared in the film Gone Hollywood back in 2019 with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Jonathan Pryce.

Now Louisa will be playing her biggest part to date as Marian Brook in The Gilded Age.

However, there was a familiar face on set for the new actor.

This is because her mother is good friends with Agnes Van Rhijn star Christine Baranski.

The Mamma Mia actress shared how she thinks Meryl will feel about the part.

Christine told Entertainment Tonight today: “It was really sweet with Louisa because her character [is new to] this world.

“She’s very insecure but she’s got this tough hand. And on the other hand, she’s nice.

“But it was very much what Louisa was living through as this young actress who gets this juicy role.”

She added: “I saw her start out being able to use all her insecurities and all that being very real and it was a joy to watch her as an actress as well as a character.

“She’s marvellous and I think Meryl will be very proud.”

Christine has also worked with another of Meryl’s daughters, Mamie Gummer, on The Good Fight.

Mamie, 38, plays Nancy Crozier on the show, along with its original series The Good Wife.

She’s also starred in Emily Owens, MD as well as films like Side Effects and Cake.

While Meryl’s other daughter is Grace Gummer, 35, who is known for shows like The Newsroom and American Horror Story: Freak Show and Mr Robot.

The Oscar-winner’s only son Henry Wolfe Gummer is a musician and actor as well.

The Gilded Age airs in the US at 9pm EST on Monday, January 24 before being simulcast in the UK at 2am GMT.
