Mary Max has sadly died.

The wife of Peter Max, the famous pop artist, was found dead on Sunday night (June 9) by the New York Police Department at the age of 52, People confirmed.

She reportedly died of nitrogen asphyxiation in an apparent suicide, according to a New York Post report.

Peter reportedly suffers from “advanced dementia.”

Mary reportedly asked a judge to appoint a guardian to oversee his company as his health declined, resulting in a legal battle between Mary and Peter‘s son.

Peter rose to fame in the 1960s with his psychedelic pop art, and he married Mary in the 90s.
