Lucy Fallon to run London Marathon and raise £10k in memory of auntie

Lucy Fallon will run the London Marathon in memory of her auntie and aims to raise £10,000 for charity after she lost her cancer battle.

The Coronation Street actress has created a Virgin Money Giving page in memory of her auntie Ann and will be running the marathon in April.

Soap star Lucy, who plays Bethany Platt on the ITV favourite soap, will run 26.2 miles on the day in aid of her auntie, who died in August 2019, and wants to give all donations to Macmillan Cancer – a charity close to her heart.

Lucy, 24, revealed on her Instagram page she would've laughed in someone's face if they'd told her she would be training for this year's marathon.

She told followers she'll be participating with her "beautiful" cousin Liv and her "fit" boyfriend Tom Leech.

Lucy described her auntie Ann as "incredibly strong and courageous" and wants to turn "something negative into something a bit more positive" by taking part in the marathon.

The hilarious and heartwarming post gave fans insight into Lucy's idea of fitness.

She wrote: "And let me tell you, I'm no runner. I have never run anywhere in my life unless it's upstairs at work to get to the canteen at lunch.

"And I have asthma. So as I'm writing this I'm thinking, 'What the hell am I doing' but we are doing it."

She also posted a heartfelt message to her fundraising page and encouraged fans, friends and family to support her journey.

"HELLO! Thank you so much for making your way to our fundraising page," it read.

"In August 2019, our beautiful, incredibly strong and courageous Aunty Ann, lost her battle to cancer.

"As you can imagine, the past year has been immensely difficult for everyone and its been really hard to watch my family grieve over somebody that should still be with us."

She continued: "In her honour, we decided (olivia decided :/) that we should run the london marathon… one of the hardest challenges we will probably ever do.

"But we need your support. Please help us raise as much money for Macmillan Cancer support as we can.

"They do incredible things for so many families across the country and we need to keep fighting the fight and helping them as much as we possibly can.

"Thank you for your support xxxxxx".
