Lady Gaga’s Golden Globes Gown Is Up for Auction, but It May Have Been Stolen

By now, everyone has debated the “if you found a wallet full of money, what would you do?” dilemma, but what’s one to do if they find Lady Gaga’s periwinkle Golden Globes gown that she wore to accept the award for Best Original Song for A Star Is Born? Well, if you’re one of the housekeepers at the Beverly Hilton, where the ceremony was hosted this year, you put it up for auction and prepare to make bank. (If you’re an ASIB fan, you also queue up “Look What I Found.’)

At the moment, that Judy Garland–inspired Valentino gown is up for auction on Nate D. Sanders’ site and is going for $8,000 (the minimum bid). There are three days of bidding left, but not if Valentino has any say over it. You see, sources told TMZ that the fashion house reported the gown as stolen, but the Beverly Hilton employee who obtained the dress says otherwise.

According to the letter of authenticity that came with the gown, a housekeeper found it after Gaga checked out of the room. The employee said she turned the dress in to the hotel’s lost and found and added, “After the time legally held by lost and found, they gave it to me as a gift from her.” And that brings us to the auction!

TMZ claims Valentino either already has or plans on going to the police to figure out what happened with the custom-made dress they loaned Gaga and to see if they can stop the auction. It’s unclear if Gaga will have any explaining to do, but this is all very messy.
