“Straighten out that crown and keep it moving.” That’s how Khloe Kardashian seems to be heading into the new year after braving another storm of drama brought on by her off-again ex, Tristan Thompson. The Good American Jeans designer shared a pair of cryptic quotes on her Instagram Stories this week that read like reminders about how to handle pain and betrayal. “People showed you who they were this year. Don’t go into 2022 confused…,” she shared in the first Instagram text image (via the Daily Mail). “There’s going to be very painful moments in your life that will change your entire world in a matter of minutes,” Khloe shared in a second quote. “These moments will change YOU. Let them make you stronger, smarter, and kinder. But don’t you go and become someone that your not. Cry. Scream if you have to. Then you straighten out that crown and keep it moving.” The posts come after Tristan’s court battle with Maralee Nichols, a woman who claims she gave birth to his third child on Dec. 1, following a sexual relationship in March 2021 — when Tristan and Khloe were back together in a purportedly exclusive relationship. In court documents related to a paternity suit Maralee filed earlier in the year, Tristan confirmed he had sex with Maralee but denied her claim he fathered her child. It’s unclear as of Dec. 31 if she’s consented to the paternity tests he has continually asked for. Khloe, who shares her daughter, True, with Tristan, has not commented publicly on the NBA star’s latest alleged fling.

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong announced on his Instagram Stories that he won’t join Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidson for their NBC and Peacock special airing live from Miami on Dec. 31, telling fans he recently learned he was exposed to COVID-19. “I’ve tested negative but I have made the decision not to travel to Miami for New Year’s Eve Party out of caution,” the rocker explained (via NME), adding, “Happy New Year and hope everyone stays safe!” Alas, everyone’s not too safe from the virus, which is now surging again thanks to the omicron variant. On Dec. 30, Zac Brown announced he has COVID-19 again following a bout with the illness in September. Because of his diagnosis, he said he was forced to cancel plans to perform on “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash” on CBS. “While we were very excited to join the incredible lineup of artists and millions of amazing fans tuning in to watch, our Number One priority is the safety and well-being of our fans, band, crew and venue staff,” Zac shared. “We’re looking forward to great things ahead and seeing you all on our tour next year.”

According to Entertainment Weekly’s sources, J.K. was invited to participate, “but her team determined the archived comments from the writer were adequate.” Insiders also told the the outlet her “statements about trans people and the controversy swirling around them did not play a part in the team’s decision.” Though J.K. has said she’s not transphobic, she has made comments indicating she doesn’t accept that trans women are women. Her remarks have incited anger from LGBTQ+ groups and many of the films’ stars, including Emma and Daniel, have vocalized their support of the trans community, seemingly distancing themselves from J.K.’s stance. “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts,” which also features former “Harry Potter” stars like Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes and Gary Oldman, starts streaming on HBO Max on Jan. 1.

Hollywood has reportedly lost a legend. According to TMZ, Betty White died in her home the morning of Dec. 31, just weeks before she would have turned 100. The pioneering television star’s career in the entertainment industry began in radio in the 1940s. She soon made her way into the TV world, though, making a name for herself as a comedic actress with her hilarious performances as Sue Ann Nivens on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” beginning in 1973. From there, Betty landed her eponymous “Betty White Show,” though her most beloved character would be the endearingly flaky Rose Nylund on “The Golden Girls,” from 1985 until 1992. Betty recently sat down with People magazine to reflect on her decades-long career, telling the outlet she’d taken to spending her days enjoying crossword puzzles, playing cards and watching documentaries about animals. Betty’s close friend, Sandra Bullock, was one of many famous pals who sang the star’s praises to People. Calling her a “loving, decent, optimistic, inclusive, hilarious human being,” Sandra said she hoped Betty would ring in her 100th birthday on Jan. 17, “the same way she has celebrated every day of her life: with humor, kindness and a vodka on ice, toasting to the fact that she’s a bad*** who has left us all in the dust.”
