When Katie Holmes turned 42 last month, her boyfriend, Emilio Vitolo, gushed on Instagram that she’s the “most amazing, kindest, beautiful person” in his life. Welp, it seems Katie’s close friends have gotten to know the 33-year-old chef, and they have similarly superlative things to say about him. According to an ET source, Katie didn’t have the chance to introduce her pals to Emilio until recently because of the pandemic. That apparently changed over dinner outside a restaurant on New York City’s Upper East Side — and the insider says Katie’s pals are nothing short of “obsessed.” Among the litany of compliments bestowed on him by her friends: Emilio is “the most charismatic man she’s ever been with,” … “he’s so funny and confident and gets along with everyone,” … and, “he is so attentive and affectionate towards Katie,” the source says. The PDA-prone pair were first spotted together in public in September.

We all have to live and coexist together, just like Americans right now — which is a little deeper of an answer, but we’re all going to try and coexist and I really want to have us all move forward.” Meghan, who welcomed her first child in September after a difficult labor, also opened up about last week’s attack on the Capitol, admitting she was “crying hysterically” as she watched Donald Trump supporters storm the building in the deadly riot. “I’m still processing feelings as I think all Americans are,” said the lifelong Republican. “What has been done, I don’t think can be undone for generations. I just pray for healing.” She added that witnessing such an event “would have killed” her father, the late Sen. John McCain.

Spike Lee and producer Tonya Lewis Lee’s children, Jackson and Satchel Lee, became the first Black siblings named Golden Globe Ambassadors, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced on Tuesday, Jan. 12. Jackson’s title also makes him the first-ever Black male Golden Globes Ambassador. As ambassadors, Satchel, 26, and Jackson, 24, would traditionally assist with handing the awards to winners at the ceremony, though their roles may change a bit this year in the interest of safety amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. As of Tuesday, Jan. 12, the Globes is scheduled for Feb. 28, having been postponed from early January due to rising COVID-19 cases.

Chrissy Teigen just added to her growing collection of tattoos. On Tuesday, Jan. 12, the cookbook author showed off a new string of cursive running down her spine on Instagram. Per tattoo artist Winter Stone, the tiny words read, “Ooooh laaaa,” in honor of the sultry song Chrissy’s husband, John Legend, wrote in her honor. Video posted to Chrissy’s page Tuesday shows her guy was by her side when she got the ink.

While strolling with the 26-year-old singer and some friends in Santa Barbara last week, fans noticed Olivia had borrowed his bead-and-pearl Éliou “Senna” necklace — the same one he had customized to read “Golden” before wearing it in his “Golden” video in November. Photos of the smiling star seem to show a second Éliou piece around her neck as well — possibly their freshwater pearl bedecked “All the Feels” style, which Vogue notes Harry also wears in the “Golden” video. This week, as she moved a few bags out of the home she once shared with her ex, Jason Sudeikis, Olivia was once again wearing Harry’s “Senna” necklace. (As for those bags, by the way, Olivia is not moving in with her new flame. According to an E! News source, she “stays with him when she doesn’t have [the] kids” she shares with Jason.

Over the weekend, the cover of Vogue’s February issue featuring Vice President-elect Kamala Harris — looking relaxed in Converse sneakers — leaked, generating a maelstrom of controversy. As the New York Times’ Kara Swisher explained in her latest “Sway” podcast, “the general consensus online was that it was too casual, that it did not rise to the historic occasion of the first woman Vice President, the first Black woman Vice President — that it was disrespectful.” The outlet responded by releasing what Kara described as a “more stately” shot for the digital cover. She also went back to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour for a comment on the backlash. In a statement to the Times, Anna said there had been “no formal agreement” in advance about which shot would land on the cover. “… It was absolutely not our intention to in any way diminish the importance of the Vice President-elect’s incredible victory,” the statement continued. “When the two images arrived at Vogue, all of us felt very, very strongly that the less formal portrait of the Vice President-elect really reflected the moment that we were living in. We are in the midst … of the most appalling pandemic that is taking lives by the minute, and we felt to reflect this tragic moment in global history, a much less formal picture, something that was very, very accessible, and approachable, and really reflected the hallmark of the Biden-Harris campaign …”

Jessica Chastain’s been a staunch advocate for equal pay in Hollywood for years. For her latest project, the upcoming spy thriller “The 355,” she went one step further. “A lot of times, our names are used to sell movies, and that’s how the money is raised for them,” the Academy Award nominee tells Shape in the magazine’s new cover story. “So I thought, ‘If our names are being sold, then we need to be the owners of the film.'” Jessica, who has both producing and acting credits on the movie, then said she then pitched the project to Lupita Nyong’o, Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger and Fan Bingbing this way: “If you do this movie, you’re going to have to agree to sell it, because you will be an owner. We’re going to sell the distribution rights to raise the budget for the film, and then everyone owns a portion of the box office.” Every one of them was on board. “I don’t know if anything like this has been done before, and honestly, I’m a bit shocked I got away with it,” Jessica admits. “But hopefully it creates a new model in which artists can own their work.” “The 355” is due out in early 2022.

Anderson Cooper: Being gay has ‘made me better person’ and a ‘better reporter’

For Anderson Cooper, being gay was something that at first seemed like an obstacle to his ability to have the life he wanted. But as he told a viewer this week on “Full Circle,” his sexual orientation turned out to be “a blessing” in many ways. Asked when he first realized he was gay and accepted it, the veteran journalist, who came out publicly at age 45, said he was “6 or 7” when he “realized … something was different.” But he said he “struggled” to accept it for years, given the many things he was excluded from doing as a gay man at the time — like getting married and having a family. Anderson, now 52, said it was probably “right after college” that he “fully embraced” his homosexuality. At that point, he said, “… I realized, ‘I don’t want to waste any more time worrying about this’ and sort of wishing I was some other way.” Today, he sees being gay as “one of the great blessings of my life,” he continued. “And it’s made me a better person; it’s made me a better reporter. When you grow up feeling that you’re on the outside of things, you’re kind of an observer of things or not necessarily in the mainstream, you see society from a slightly different view. And I think that can be very valuable and can impact how you treat other people and how you see things. It’s enabled me to love the people that I’ve loved and have the life that I’ve had. So I’m very blessed.” Anderson’s also been able to start a family despite his early fears. He welcomed his son, Wyatt, last spring via surrogate and is raising him with his close friend and former partner, Benjamin Maisani.

Chadwick Boseman’s widow shares moving tribute to her late husband at the Gotham Awards

Chadwick Boseman, whose death in August stunned Hollywood, was honored with the Actor Tribute Award at the Gotham Awards on Monday, Jan. 11. Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman, the late “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” star’s widow, picked up the award on his behalf, delivering a video acceptance speech that became one of the most talked about moments of the event. She opened by describing Chadwick as “the most honest person I’ve ever met, because he didn’t just stop at speaking the truth: he actively searched for it in himself and those around him and in the moment.” She continued: “The truth can be a very easy thing for the self to avoid, but if one does not live in truth, then it’s impossible to live in line with the divine purpose for your life. And so it became how he lived his life, day in and out. Imperfect but determined. In doing so, he was able to give himself over fully in every moment, to be totally present in his own life and in the lives of people he became. He was blessed to live many lives within his concentrated one. He developed his understanding of what it meant to be the none, the one, and the all …,” Simone shared. “… [He] was not merely telling a story or reading lines on a page, but modeling a path to true fulfillment.” In conclusion, she said it was her “honor” to accept the award for her husband. “In acknowledgment not only of his profound work but of his impact on this industry and this world,” Simone added, “Chad, thank you, I love you. I am so proud of you. Keep shining your light on us.” Chadwick died after a private battle with colon cancer. He was 43.
