Kate Ferdinand reveals she’s looking forward to having time to herself because being at home with the kids is ‘intense’

Newly married Kate Ferdinand certainly isn’t slowing down after her wedding last September – which was exclusively covered by OK! magazine – and even a pandemic isn’t getting in her way.

She’s been busy putting together her new Very collection and the sophisticated tailoring and flattering silhouettes clearly demonstrate how her style has evolved since her TOWIE days.

There’s something for everyone in the range, including comfortable loungewear that will add something a little more glam to your lockdown wardrobe for those all-important zoom meetings.

Kate, 28 – who is in lockdown with her husband Rio and his three children, Lorenz, 13, Tate, 11, and nine-year-old Tia – admits the last few months have been “intense”, what with “being at home with the children, homeschooling and everything in between”.

Here, Kate opens up about her style inspiration, her goals for the year and her secret to looking great in her YouTube workout videos…

How would you describe the new loungewear pieces?

Stylish, affordable and super-comfy. I’ve lived in loungewear and gym wear for the last eight weeks, along with the rest of the population at home, so the blue and the pink sets are just perfect.

What are your favourite three pieces from the new collection and why?

I love the mix of tones in the collection – they all work really well together and the matching sets are great for feeling a bit more pulled-together when I’ve made little effort! If I had to pick a favourite, I really love the blush pink loungewear set. It’s so perfect for working from home and homeschooling the children.

What piece of clothing could you not live without?

I love to have a leisurewear set that works for everything so I’m dressed for the day – something I feel good in whether I’m running errands, bumping into a friend, picking the children up or cooking dinner.

Which celebrity do you look to for style inspiration?

I think it’s really important to dress for my body, so I tend to look for people who have the same sort of body shape as me. I love all of the Kardashians’ styles.

What do you look for when choosing a new dress?

I always look for flattering shapes. It has to fit perfectly in all the right places. Luckily, the ones from the new collection tick the boxes!

What would be your top tips for anyone trying to look casual chic?

A great pair of flattering trousers with an elastic waist! I think it’s always important to choose an outfit that flatters the parts
of your body you like the most. For me, that is probably my waist, so a waistline and perhaps a slight cropped t-shirt or jumper work well for me.

Who is your fitness idol and why?

I don’t have one fitness idol but there are lots of people whose workouts I follow. I am a bit obsessed with J.Lo. She’s really healthy and looks amazing at 50!

Are there any fitness classes you would love to try?

I’ve always really wanted to try Reformer Pilates and I’ve started doing it during lockdown. I’m loving it so I will keep it up.

What are your tips for looking good while you work out? Do you go make-up free or for a light coverage?

Always light coverage. A super-sheer tinted moisturiser makes me feel good before and during my workout. It’s a great self-confidence boost.

What goals are you setting yourself for the rest of the year?

It’s a really difficult time to set goals with so much uncertainty, but my main focus and goal at the moment is to remain fit, healthy and happy.

What’s next for you?

I feel like the last few months have been intense being at home with the children, homeschooling and everything in between. So, in all honesty, I’m looking forward to having some time to myself again at some point! I’m also working on some new work projects and I feel excited about the future.
