Jessica Simpson, 39, is facing criticism for dying her seven year old daughter Maxwell’s hair.

The American singer and actress shared a photo of her daughter’s multicoloured dip-dyed locks on her Instagram along with a snap of Maxwell with foils in her hair at a salon.

Sharging the snaps of her daughter’s new look, Jessica said in the caption: “Inspired by The Descendent #901girl #MAXIDREW” – referring to a teen TV show call Descendants 3 where some of the characters have coloured hair.

Some fans loved the look and commented on the post to call Maxwell’s hair “beautiful” and “pretty”. But, others weren’t impressed with Jessica’s decision to dye her daughter's hair and commented on the post to criticise The Dukes Of Hazzard star.

“So young it’s a shame,” one commented while another questioned: “Isn’t she too young to have her hair dyed?”

“Why start ruining her hair so young?” a third wrote and another added: “What’re u doing she is so young. [sic]”

But fans soon jumped to defend Jessica, who gave birth to her third child, Birdie, in March.

“Seriously people need to stop getting your undies in an bunch it’s just hair your can cut it and it grows back!! For real,” one said.

“For everyone freaking out over a little color on her ends, remember us 90’s kids taking highlighters to our hair at school?! Come on, I had wash our hair color and spray all the time,[sic]” a second wrote.

“DON'T LISTEN TO ALL THE TROLLS!!! Your daughter's hair looks fabulous and it is better for your hair when it is professionally done to protect the health. People have nothing better to do than criticize someone else's parenting,[sic]” another said.

This isn’t the first time Jessica’s parenting choices have divided fans. In April she faced criticism after sharing a photo of a bottle filled with breast milk, calling her expressing session a “success”.

“Every one does what they need to do to feed their baby. Just remember it’s not failure if you don’t pump or breastfeed. It’s only failure if you don’t feed your baby anything at all,” one fan wrote.

While another defended Jessica: “She’s not allowed to share her personal achievements on her own page in case a complete stranger takes offence? What a time to be alive this post is rife with negative nancies. [sic]”
