Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney spotted in Rhode Island for rumored wedding

Modern love gets you to the church Rhode Island on time.

Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney touched down in the Ocean State Friday evening, strengthening the reports that the pair will wed there this weekend.

Page Six reported when the couple was snapped at New York’s marriage bureau with security guards and celebrity photographer Mark Seliger in tow, which seemed to suggest that they’d tied the knot and were planning a larger ceremony later.

The venue for the occasion is allegedly the Belcourt of Newport castle. It was designed in 1894 by the celebrated American architect Richard Morris Hunt on a commission from Oliver Hazard Perry Belmont, whose second wife, Alva Vanderbilt, decorated it. It then was sold in 1956 to the Tinney family, whose own chapter in its history makes for diverting if slightly sordid reading.

Alex and Ani founder Carolyn Rafaelian, a Rhode Island native, purchased it in 2012 for $3.6 million, according to the New York Times. After a conventional restoration — and then a shaman, to cleanse the house of its “energies and entities, some not pleasant” — she rebranded it as a premium event space.

Page Six exclusively reported Lawrence and Maroney’s February engagement; the pair have been dating since last June. Lawrence teamed up with Amazon in September to create a wedding registry, should you feel inclined to help the happy couple.
