Jason Donovan’s daughter makes Neighbours debut and now he wants to return

It's a special moment for Jason Donovan as his daughter Jemma is following in his footsteps by joining the cast of Neighbours.

And he has hinted at a potential comeback on the show for it's 35th anniversary – only if Kylie Minogue and Guy Pearce do it too.

It seems to be a family tradition for the Donovans as she will be the third member to join the Australian soap after her grandfather Terence also had a brief stint on it.

Jason, 51, played soap character Scott Robinson between 1986 and 1989 and afterwards found international stardom.

He told The Herald Sun : "I think if an opportunity for a Guy and a Kylie came and we all went on as a team that would create something interesting."

Jemma, who is 19-years-old, will adapt to her new role as Harlow Robinson – a long-lost member of her dad's on-screen family.

Her famous dad is pleased at her new role, admitting it's "an incredible learning curve for any young actor".

Jemma previously said: "I was so happy and very honoured to be a part of a series which has been enjoyed by generations.

"The timing was also perfect because since my previous role on 'Spotless' in 2015, I stopped going to auditions and acting because I wanted to finish my schooling, so it's great how everything has fallen into place."

Jason added: "It’s become an institution and I’m so grateful for my time on Ramsay Street."

He also admitted he will be on set to support the current cast either way.
