Whether it’s acting, comedy, or music, Jamie Foxx is one talented individual. There’s one quality he also possesses some people may not know about: he also has the capability to save someone’s life. Not many would have known this (including possibly Foxx himself), but the multitalented star found himself tested when he saw a man in a burning car. It’s safe to say he passed the test. Let’s take a closer look at Foxx and the time he saved a man’s life in a most heroic way.

Jamie Foxx is known for his high-profile roles

Foxx can do it all. His career began as a comedian, where he first came to fame as a featured player on the groundbreaking sketch comedy show In Living Color. He’d later star in his own sitcom, The Jamie Foxx Show. Foxx released several R&B albums, showing off his musical talent as well.

Foxx’s biggest impact in show business has come in movies. He’s shown tremendous range throughout his career. Not only is he adept at starring in thoughtful, independent fare, but he can also dazzle in big-budget blockbusters as well.

He won an Oscar for portraying Ray Charles. He worked with the auteur Michael Mann in multiple films, including Collateral, Ali, and Miami Vice.

He’s also played a comic book villain. While the film left some viewers sour, few complained about Foxx’s turn as Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. He’s going to reprise the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s third Spider-Man film.

What does all this prove? That when it comes to Hollywood stars, Foxx is about as big as they get. That’s why someone of his stature risking their lives to save another may come as a shock. But as unbelievable as that sounds, it’s exactly what Foxx did.

Jamie Foxx found himself at the scene of a horrible car accident

Witnessing just about any kind of car accident is scary, but this one was particularly harrowing. According to ABC News, in 2016 a man named Brett Kyle was driving around LA when he collided with a drainage ditch. Like something out of a real-life horror film, the vehicle flipped and rolled repeatedly, causing it to burst into flames.

Police later commented on the aftermath:

“Two witnesses that were near the collision scene ran to the burning, overturned truck in an attempt to free the driver. One of the witnesses retrieved a rescue tool from his vehicle allowing the two citizens to break the window, cut the seat belt, and extricate the driver.”

Police on the scene later noted the man was “arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.” The driver obviously lived but did suffer neck, head, and chest injuries. What was most remarkable about the scene was that one of the people helping the driver was none other than Foxx himself.

Jamie Foxx helped save a man’s life

After the incident, Foxx asserted that he was no hero, but that he “had to do something.” The accident occurred near his LA home, so he sprang into action after seeing the event. O

ne of his representatives said that Foxx “didn’t hesitate” to offer his assistance. It’s impossible to say after the effect what would have happened in the absence of Foxx’s intervention, but suffice to say it wouldn’t have been good for Kyle.

Once he saved Kyle, Foxx got an opportunity to meet the man’s father. He posted a photo of the two to Instagram, writing the following caption:

“Met the father of the young man from last night today…This is all that matters. That a man, a son, a brother’s life was spared last night. God had his arms wrapped around all of us…No heroes…Just happy fathers.”

Foxx’s act shows that no matter how rich or famous someone gets, what counts is the person inside. No amount of notoriety or money can change that.
