It comes after Ed appeared as a contestant on The Great Comic Relief Bake Off back in 2013.

Despite winning the Technical Challenge with his lemon meringue pie, it appears he wasn’t immune from criticism from Mary.

James admitted he’d also felt pressure when cooking for Mary, adding: “Which I’ve done many times!”

Ed instantly responded: “I bet she didn’t throw you as much shade as she threw me.”

“She threw quite a bit at you though,” James replied.

Ed agreed, saying: “She did and she would do this thing where she would damn with faint praise, she’d single out something that was really so petty that it was almost insulting.

“She’d say something like – you’d make a pie and she’d be like, ‘And you’ve glazed the top completely with egg’ like that’s the easy bit!

“It’s like, ‘Well done for not throwing up on your shoes while you made it’,” he said, mocking Mary.
