Helen Mirren opens up on love scenes with co-star that ‘still finds her sexy’

Helen Mirren opened up in an unearthed recent interview about how “excited” she felt shooting sex scenes with Harrison Ford.

The Captain America: Brave New World star is 81 years old, while Helen is 78 – but according to the actress, the pair had electrifying chemistry when they romanced each other’s characters on TV drama series 1923.

“I was so excited, I can’t tell you! I had to pretend to be cool,” Helen exclaimed at the 2023 Awards Season Screening Series with The Wrap.

Referring to a scene where fictional characters Jacob and Cara Dutton got intimate, she enthused: “I had to be in the bed with him, you know, but I’m lying there and I’m thinking, ‘I’m in bed with Harrison Ford.'”

Describing him as “immensely generous” and “incredibly professional”, she insisted that he wasn’t “remotely [a] spoiled movie star at all”.

“I genuinely love him,” she continued, before adding playfully: “If I wasn’t married…”

Helen has spent more than a quarter of a century as the wife of movie director Taylor Hackford – and although he’d been married twice before, his third marriage is truly standing up to the test of time.

However, Helen and Harrison go back even further, having first starred opposite each other way back in 1986 when they were a married couple in The Mosquito Coast together.

“It was so great to come back and it was as if the 30 years just hadn’t existed and here we were together again as husband and wife,” Helen raved at Deadline’s Contenders Television Panel.

Meanwhile, in February, during an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Harrison hinted to his host that he doesn’t think his co-star’s sex appeal has faded an iota in the 37 years since their first movie.

When Stephen held up a photo from the vintage film, depicting Helen lying on top of Harrison, he marvelled at it, before exclaiming that “she is still sexy” today.

It isn’t just Harrison who’s been praising Helen’s appeal, as it also recently emerged that she has younger admirers too.

Rapper 50 Cent told Men’s Health magazine that he had a crush on her, declaring her “forever sexy” in a video for the publication’s website.

“She’ll look at you and you go, ‘Oh, s***!’ Like, look, I don’t care how old she get. I don’t give a f*** what nobody says, she’s sexy,” he insisted.

He added that he found her confidence alluring, adding: “It’s everything she is for all of these years. She’s going to be sexy forever.”

However, he added that he wouldn’t date her if she split from her husband, explaining: “As long as he’s alive, I wouldn’t say yes.”

“It’s not right, because you know what? I don’t want nobody waiting for me to be knocked off in a crash or something.”

Helen was due to receive the 2023 American Cinematheque award today, but strikes have postponed it, with the new ceremony date to be announced soon.
