King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain – then Crown Prince Felipe and Letizia Ortiz – were married on May 22, 2004, at Madrid’s Almudena Cathedral.

Guests arrived in grand fashion for the nuptials of Spain’s crown prince to the former journalist.

Royals from around the world made up the guest list, including Prince Albert of Monaco, Prince Charles of Britain and Princess Victoria of Sweden.

The groom arrived with his mother, Queen Sofia, on his arm.

As in all royal weddings, an adorable group of girls and boys made up the bridal party. They wore white and gold ensembles.

The newlyweds waved to the public from the balcony of Royal Palace.

Despite the rain, fans huddled under umbrellas to watch the wedding on a big screen.

Letizia wore a diamond tiara which Queen Sofia, her mother-in-law, had worn on her wedding day to King Juan Carlos in 1962.

Felipe sweetly kissed his bride on the forehead as they toasted with champagne at their wedding reception.

Two generations of kings and queens!
