Miss Mercy, the co-founder of The GTOs (Girls Together Outrageously) and an associate of Frank Zappa, has died at the age of 71.

The news was revealed by her former bandmate Pamela Des Barres in a social media post on Tuesday. She did not disclose the cause of death.

“My beloved sister for most of my life, Miss Mercy has just passed,” Des Barres wrote on Instagram. “Words don’t work for me at this moment. I can’t imagine my world without her in it.”

Des Barres, who is also known as GTOS’ Miss Pamela, also posted a black and white photo of her holding Miss Mercy’s chin.

Miss Mercy was born Judith Edna Peters in L.A. County, California.
She was instrumental in the founding of the all-girl rock group with Frank Zappa.

Active for only two and a half years, the group released their only album, Permanent Damage, in 1969.
