Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez, 32, has jetted off on holiday with his fiancée Gemma Atkinson, 38, and their three-year-old daughter Mia. The trip comes after Gorka missed out on the chance to lift the Glitterball Trophy with his celebrity partner Helen Skelton, 39, in the Strictly final earlier this month.

After joining the BBC dance show in 2016, Gorka has been in the final three times – with Alexandra Burke, Maisie Smith and Helen Skelton – but has never won.

Following his latest defeat by wildlife photographer Hamza Yassin and his partner Jowita Przystał, it was reported that Gorka could be set to leave the programme.

A source claimed that Gorka could be feeling the “seven-year itch” and may “go on to bigger things”, The Sun reported.

Now, Gorka has finally addressed the rumours in a simple three-word message.

The Spanish dancer shared a selection of cute photos featuring himself, Gemma and Mia sitting on a plane as it landed.

Hundreds took to the comments, including Helen Skelton who said: “Enjoy gang,” and pro Neil Jones echoed: “Have a great time you deserve it bro.”

One fan named Ritch also took the opportunity to write: “Can’t believe you’ve left Strictly,” along with four crying emojis.

Gorka then replied to the fan directly, telling him: “Don’t believe it [wink emoji].”

Hollyoaks star Gemma had also taken to the social media site to firmly deny that there was any truth in the rumours.

Sharing one of the reports to her Story, Gemma wrote: “Keep being sent this. Wish I hadn’t said to all the backstage crew ‘see you next year’ now.

“[Obviously] this isn’t true at all! Same as it wasn’t true about [Giovanni Pernice] last year. Merry Christmas!”

Some fans were furious that Helen and Gorka did not win after dazzling with their amazing routines.

Some even took to social media to say that Gorka looked “fuming” when Hamza was announced as the winner.

Reflecting on his reaction, Helen said on Lorraine: “What I love about Gorka and our friendship is that we are so honest it’s written all over our faces.

“When I was terrified, I was terrified. When we were loving our time together, we were loving our time together. When we were stressed, we were stressed.

“If his face had said anything other than, ‘I’m disappointed’ on Saturday it would have been a disservice.”

Nevertheless, she made sure to say that she wasn’t “taking anything away” from Hamza and even revealed that Gorka had helped him during the series.

She went on: “They’ve been brilliant all season and we’re delighted for them.

“Gorka’s helped Hamza, he’s given him so many tips in a supportive way, it’s one big family. Bless him, [Gorka] wanted to win it.”
