Good Morning Britain star Ranvir Singh reveals she quit show after ‘burnout’

03/26/2023

Good Morning Britain’s co-host Ranvir Singh has revealed that the real reason she quit her political role on the show was due to exhaustion.

Ranvir had quit her political editor position at the end of 2021 due to it being such an “intense time in politics”, before being promoted to the position of main regular co-host.

She said: “I was at the White House, in Brussels every week for Brexit, there was the Jeremy Corbyn thing with Momentum. Trump was tweeting every day, I was in Helsinki one day, I’d be in Austria the next day. I had a bit of a burnout."

Although she confesses she misses the buzz sometimes, Ranvir said she knew it was time to call it a day: “I loved every second of it, but I thought, ‘I don’t think I can do another winter of it’," she said, adding “I miss that buzz. But, sometimes, I am glad to be in a warm studio," she continued to Woman & Home magazine.

Her move from political editor to studio co-host means she has more time at home, and now regularly hosts alongside fellow co-hosts Kate Garraway, Charlotte Hawkins, Susanna Reid, and more. However, it comes with its own new set of difficulties.

Ranvir also revealed some of the comments she’d received from the public, saying: “People have said ‘you look much thinner on telly’. I was in a public toilet and a woman said, ‘My husband hates you’.”

Ranvir also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing during series 18, where she fell for production worker Louis Church. She had already been experiencing extreme exhaustion at the time, and it was his attentiveness that made her fall for him. She said: “I knew Louis was special the minute he walked in… I was doing three jobs and I’ve never been more tired.

“I was slumped in my chair at 7am. Louis asked, ‘Do you want a drink?’. I was so tired I couldn’t say anything. “Fifteen minutes later, he came back with a green tea, a Berocca, Haribos and a KitKat. I thought, ‘That is exactly what I want’.

“From that moment he has instinctively known exactly what I need.”

Ranvir had regularly stood in for main host Susanna Reid before being promoted to regular co-host, but saw her profile soar considerably after she made it all the way to the semi-final on Strictly.

Since then, Ranvir has filled in for Lorraine Kelly on her morning ITV show, and hosted the hard-hitting documentary Ghislaine, Prince Andrew and the Paedophile where she was praised by viewers for her interviewing and presenting.
