Gemma Atkinson, 36, has shown support for her fiancé Gorka Marquez, 31, who is preparing for his return as a professional dancer on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. The popular BBC One show is set to return to television screens on September 18, following the launch show, which aired last weekend.

On Sunday, it was revealed Gorka would be dancing with Hollyoaks star Katie McGlynn.

Gemma then took to her Instagram account to share her reaction to the news with her 1.7 million followers.

Uploading a picture of the dancing pair to her stories, Gemma wrote: “Come on!”

In the snap, Gorka and Katie can be seen on the dance floor, as they grin at the camera.

Gemma also added two dancing emojis to her post.

It comes after Gemma was sweetly supported by Gorka ahead of a challenge she was taking on for charity.

Last Monday, she began her trek of the Scottish Highlands, and Gorka made sure to post an emotional message in her honour.

The dancer also joked their two-year-old daughter Mia would be taking care of him while she was away.

In view of his 652,000 followers, Gorka shared a picture of the pair smiling.

He wrote: “Wishing all the luck to my @glouiseatkinson on her day 1 of 6 trekking the Scottish highlands with a bunch of strong and inspiring woman to raise money for Breast Cancer @coppafeelpeople.

“I know your hard work will pay off and u will smash it.

“Ps: don’t worry I am in good hands Mia is taking care of me.(sic)”

Last year, the couple were forced to spend time apart due to coronavirus restrictions on Strictly Come Dancing.

The programme’s guidelines required pros and celebrities to form a bubble together.

This meant that those taking part in the show were not allowed to mingle outside of their pairings either.

This year, the rules have changed, but executive producer Sarah James said other measures would be taken for everyone’s safety.

She said: “We will keep everybody distanced from each other so you won’t see them all up in Claudia’s area.

“They will be sitting in the audience like last year on their little tables which I think worked really nicely.

“Obviously keeping everybody safe and keeping the show going is our priority.”

Celebrities taking part in this year’s series are Ugo Monye, Judi Love, Adam Peaty, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Nina Wadia, Greg Wise Tilly Ramsay, Dan Walker, Katie McGlynn, John Whaite, AJ Odudu, Robert Webb, Tom Fletcher, Rhys Stephenson and Sara Davies.
