The Foo Fighters have shared a cover of Chuck Berry‘s 1958 Christmas hit, “Run Rudolph Run,” for Amazon Music.

The Dave Grohl-led group recorded the cover version as part of “Amazon Holiday Plays” concert from the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles.

The track finds the band giving Berry’s rock & roll song a blazing hard rock lens, cranking up the guitars and adding a bit more stomp to the drums. But they ensure the original energy of the song remains intact.

The Foo Fighters performed the song as part of the final installment of Amazon Music’s three-part concert series Holiday Plays, hosted by rapper Lil Nas X. The band also played some of their greatest hits, including “Learn To Fly,” “Times Like These” and “Best Of You,” as well as their latest single “Shame Shame,” during the show, which was aired in the U.K. over Twitch.

In 2008, Dave Grohl and ZZ Top‘s Billy Gibbons had teamed up with Motorhead frontman Lemmy to cover “Run Rodolph Run” for the We Wish You a Metal Xmas and a Headbanging New Year compilation.

The Foo Fighters are set to release their 10th album Medicine At Midnight on February 5, 2021.
