AceShowbizEminem is just one tiny, measly little trophy away from the EGOT. The “Not Afraid” hitmaker is close to getting the status after the Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show won for Outstanding Variety Special at the 2022 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

Eminem performed at the February event along with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar as well as 50 Cent at SoFi Stadium earlier this year. Now with the victory, Slim Shady only needs to win a Tony award to join the select group of EGOT winners.

If he is able to get an accolade from the award show, which honors the best in Broadway theatre, Eminem would join the likes of Richard Rodgers, Helen Hayes, Rita Moreno, John Gielgud, Audrey Hepburn, Marvin Hamlisch, Jonathan Tunick, Mel Brooks, Mike Nichols, Whoopi Goldberg and Robert Lopez. Other EGOT winners include John Legend, Scott Rudin, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice, Alan Menken as well as Jennifer Hudson, who just achieved the accomplishment in June this year.

Eminem, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, has 15 Grammy Awards under his belt after winning various categories throughout the years. Meanwhile, he won the Best Original Song category at the Academy Awards back in 2003, thanks to “Lose Yourself” from the film “8 Mile”.

That aside, Eminem made headlines in February as he took a knee when Dr. Dre began performing “Still Dre” at the Pepsi Super Bowl LVI halftime show. Although the NFL reportedly told the emcee not to kneel, he did it anyway to support former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his fight against injustice.

The NFL itself was reportedly not comfortable with the “still not loving police” line in the track. However, Dr. Dre refused to scrap the lyrics as he allegedly felt “disgustingly censored.”

Eminem himself earned praise for his action. “Eminem the GOAT for kneeling even after the NFL told him not to do it,” one Twitter user gushed. Another added, “When you know your influence is far greater than the NFL and its ownership. #flex.” A third individual complimented, “Bad idea to tell Dre and Eminem to not do something. And the artists are totally in the right on this. Well done.”
