Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Will Be Meghan and Harry's Neighbors

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are getting another celebrity couple for neighbors! First it was Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom (oh yeah, and little Daisy!) and now it’s Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. According to a new report from The Wall Street Journal, they recently bought a $49 million estate in Montecito, Calif., which is one of the most expensive properties ever sold in Santa Barbara County.

Ellen and Portia purchased their new home (after selling their mansion for $33.3 million) from comedian and political commentator Dennis Miller and wife Carolyn Espley-Miller in September. Even though their new compound wasn’t publicly listed, Ellen and Portia managed to nab the four acres of land and the South African Cape Dutch-style main house, a “barn” designed by Los Angeles architect Tom Kundig, and a large lily pond. The estate is so fancy that it was even featured in House Beautiful.

Harry and Meghan left Los Angeles after purchasing a new house in Montecito. It might seem like an odd choice, but Harry didn’t want L.A. to be the place where they raised their family. “Harry absolutely hated it—the timing was so wrong amid the [COVID-19] pandemic and they lacked privacy,” a source told Us Weekly. “Meghan visited Montecito in her teens and fell in love with the picturesque scenery and stunning architecture. Moving there was always an option, but to begin with, she and Harry wanted to give Los Angeles a shot.”

I wonder if Harry, Meghan, Katy, Orlando, Ellen, and Portia will have one big dinner party post-pandemic. A girl can dream, right?
