EastEnders actress Kellie Bright is devastated to have lost her partner in crime Danny Dyer, following his soaking wet exit as Mick Carter.

The duo portrayed on-and-off husband and wife Linda and Mick for nine years in total – parents to sons Lee, Johnny and Ollie, and daughters Frankie, Nancy and Annie – but it all finally came crashing down on Christmas Day as they were caught in Janine Butcher's web.

Witnessing Linda and Janine's vehicle careering off the edge of the White Cliffs of Dover, Mick heroically jumped in after them, but the unrelenting English Channel seemingly brought his story to a close.

Shortly after these scenes aired on BBC One, Kellie, 46, posted a black-and-white selfie with Danny, 45, from their final day together.

"My Mick…. It was only a matter of time… but who would have thought that it would have taken 9 years for Mick and Linda to finally come to an end," her caption read.

"It has been, without a doubt, the best years of my life so far… for many reasons, but YOU @officialdannydyer are definitely one of them.

"This photo was taken on our last day on set together (we were both a bit puffy eyed from the water tank) but it really sums us up. We made each other smile. Every day. I will always be grateful for that," the soap star continued.

"Sad as I am that our TV coupling is over, Kellie and Danny will be friends forever. Thank you for EVERYTHING. See you in the real world very soon. Love your L [black heart emoji]."

As you'd expect, Kellie's legion of fans were quick to congratulate the pair on their fabulous work over the years.

"Officially grieving for mick! And heartbroken mick and Linda have been separated! ( I know it’s not real life but they were my faves together," commented one individual.

"There will be no one quite like mick and linda ever again. thank you for the time yous put in to them to create something so special. you gave us sooo many amazing memories & for that I will be forever thankful" and "You two created one of the best TV dynamics in history," added two more.

"Oh kellie… thank you both for creating the best memories possible for so many of us growing up, you’ve been electric together for so many years and as much as it’s going to be hard without mick and linda together, they’ll forever be in each other’s hearts."
