She said: “I can’t bear it!

“I honestly do find it so traumatising, I try not to watch, especially now we have high definition.

“I’m like, ‘Do we really need to be seeing that, seeing all my flaws?’”

The former Dancing on Ice contestant went on to say she hopes her role in the show will leave viewers “surprised”.

She added to OK! Magazine: “I hope a lot of people are pleasantly surprised.

“I’m insanely private, but that’s the dream about acting – you can put all these bits of yourself, which you wouldn’t normally like to share, into a character.”

Donna first started her acting career in the hit series Byker Grove, which also starred Ant and Dec.

On working with the BBC again, she went on to say: “I’d to the whole thing again if I could!

“It’s a dream role – and it’s great to be back on the BBC where I started off,” she added.

Viewers will see Donna’s character Fi as one half of, what appears to be, a celebrity power couple.

But the dark side of their marriage is eventually unearthed before a “messy” divorce battle occurs.

Addressing her role, she told the Daily Star: “We have all been in one relationship in our life or someone who has tried to be in our life and it’s not necessarily the most healthy of relationships.

“Those are the ones we have to walk away from.

“It is a very confusing emotion to be in a relationship where he loves you and you love them.

“Normally, those characters that gaslight you, they are very pathological and very narcissistic and yet they can also be incredibly charming and huge amounts of fun and very loving.”

She added: “I would have left a person like that 100 per cent.
