Des O’Connor’s daughter loses legal fight over ‘detective’s predatory messages’11/17/2023
The daughter of late entertainer Des O’Connor has lost her High Court battle after accusing a police misconduct panel of failing to address the alleged “predatory and abusive” actions of a detective.
James Mason had met and interviewed Kristina O’Connor as a result of a crime report in 2011.
Kristina accused him of asking “invasive” questions with “sexual overtones” and claimed he called her “amazingly hot”.
Miss O’Connor, now in her 30s, has said the Metropolitan Police had “failed to properly investigate” a complaint, but the force disputed her claim.
Mr Justice Swift, who considered arguments at High Court hearings in London earlier this year, dismissed her application for “judicial review” today.
Lawyers representing Kirstina indicated that they were considering an appeal.
The judge heard that Des’ daughter was reportedly sent numerous inappropriate messages by the detective sergeant after he responded to her report.
A police misconduct panel found that Mr Mason had “deliberately and repeatedly abused his position for a “sexual purpose” and his conduct “amounted to gross misconduct”. He was reportedly given a final written warning.
