They became an unlikely couple after getting together halfway through last year’s Love Island, and after sailing through to the final and eventually coming in fourth place, Curtis Pritchard and Maura Higgins are happier than ever.

Irish lass Maura is currently competing in skating competition Dancing On Ice, but boyfriend Curtis isn’t worried about falling victim to the show’s curse, which has seen many relationships end in the past.

Speaking to new magazine, Curtis, 23, said: “I know her partner [Alexander Demetriou] and he seems like a lovely guy.

"They get on great, which you need because you spend a lot of time with each other. But I’m not worried about any of that, no.”

Curtis is full of praise for his girlfriend’s abilities on the ice, saying: “She’s doing great. The improvement is phenomenal, but she still gets so nervous. Because she wants it and she’s put her heart and soul into it.”

The couple have been inundated with offers since finding love on the show, with Curtis being drafted in for BBC’s The Greatest Dancer and Maura competing on Dancing On Ice.

Although the pair have been extremely busy, they are making the most of the time they have with each other.

“Over Christmas we struggled a little bit because I was in panto, she was doing Dancing On Ice but since early January I’ve spent as much time as possible with her, because I’ve got this little gap off work. It’s been nice” Curtis said.

The pair had a rocky experience with their Love Island experience, with Curtis coupling up with Amy Hart on day one, which ultimately ended after Curtis’ head was turned in Casa Amor, leading to Amy exiting the villa.

Maura didn’t have it any easier either, after Tommy Fury chose Molly-Mae Hague over her, leading to several unsuccessful couplings.

After Maura expressed interest in Curtis, the two got together and have been going from strength-to-strength.

When asked about how they keep their spark alive, Curtis revealed: “We’re just ourselves around each other. We like to relax, we watch the same things on TV, we just have fun. We take the mick out of each other and give each other little presents.”
