‘Sorry?’ Scott Morrison is stumped live on air after being asked how Caitlin Jenner was allowed into Australia for Celebrity Big Brother while thousands of Aussies are stranded overseas

Prime Minister Scott Morrison was caught off guard during a live radio interview this week when asked why Caitlyn Jenner was allowed into Australia.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, 71, flew from LA to Sydney last week and is currently in hotel quarantine ahead of an appearance on Seven’s Big Brother VIP.

While it’s understood Jenner obtained a special visa that means she isn’t taking a hotel quarantine spot from an Australian, her arrival has nonetheless caused controversy as thousands of citizens remain stranded overseas and unable to return home.

Mr Morrison, 53, was momentarily lost for words when Nova 919 hosts Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton put him on the spot on the issue.

‘With the whole nation in lockdown, ScoMo, how did Caitlin Jenner get in?’ asked one of the hosts. 

There was a long silence before the Prime Minister responded: ‘Sorry?’ 

‘Caitlin Jenner, she’s in for Big Brother VIP. How did she get in?’ he was then asked.

‘Oh, that would’ve been done with the various states, I assume, and working through what is a pretty lengthy exemption process,’ Mr Morrison replied.

‘That’s not something I could give you any specifics on,’ he added.  

Harvey and Stapleton proceeded to joke about how they thought someone like Jenner would have had to personally call the Prime Minister to ‘get in’. 

Morrison stuttered at the suggestion an American celebrity received special treatment, then replied: ‘That’s… that’s taken in other levels.’

Jenner is in hotel quarantine in Australia and is set to star on Seven’s Big Brother VIP.

While the network hasn’t commented on the casting, or the circumstances of her obtaining a visa, her salary is believed to be at least $500,000.

Filming is set to begin at a purpose-build complex at Sydney Olympic Park in the coming months, and the program will air later this year. 

Despite shooting a reality show in Australia, Jenner continues to campaign for Governor of California as a Republican candidate.
