Heeeere’s Bryan! Breaking Bad star Cranston perfectly recreates Jack Nicholson’s iconic The Shining axe-wielding scene for hilarious Super Bowl commercial

  • Bryan Cranston and Tracee Ellis Ross have recreated the iconic scene from the 1980 film The Shining, in a new Mountain Dew commercial for the Super Bowl
  • The hilarious parody is set to air during the 2020 Super Bowl next weekend

It’s one of the most iconic scenes in movie history.

And Bryan Cranston is set to bring Jack Nicholson’s The Shining scene back to life 40 years later, as he has recreated the veteran actor’s ‘Here’s Johnny’ moment for a hilarious new Mountain Dew commercial set to air at the 2020 Super Bowl.

The clip, which also features Tracee Ellis Ross, sees the duo expertly parody a host of scenes from the movie ahead of the sporting event next weekend.

In the commercial, Breaking Bad star Bryan channels Nicholson’s demented hotel caretaker Jack Torrance as he carries an axe around a hotel and ominously calls ‘Come out, come out, wherever you are….’

He then taps on the door as Blackish star Tracee hides behind with a bottle of Mountain Dew, saying: ‘I’ve got new Mountain Dew Zero Sugar.’

Bryan then proceeds to attack the locked door with an axe, before poking his face through the hole in the door and putting his own spin on the movie’s iconic line.

‘Here’s Mountain Dew Zero!’ he announces to a terrified Tracee, who stops screaming to take the drink, before casually announcing ‘I am thirsty’.

The ad’s final shots show Mountain Dew pouring out of the doors of an elevator, in a twist on the original film’s waves of blood.

Malcolm In The Middle alum Bryan also dresses as the film’s ghostly twins, Alexie and Alexa Grady, with the veteran actor donning a dress and wig to play both girls.

The Stanley Kubrick-directed film centered on a struggling novelist (Nicholson) who becomes winter caretaker at the isolated Overlook Hotel in Colorado, hoping to cure his writer’s block.

Nicholson’s wife in the film was played by Shelley Duvall.

Girlfriends star Ross posted the ad to her Instagram account on Tuesday, captioning the post, ‘Ladies and gents, I present the premiere of the @MountainDew #superbowl commercial: I got to remake #TheShining with @BryanCranston!

‘Shut the front door! What do you think? As good as the original, maybe even better?’

Super Bowl LIV takes place Sunday February 2 in Miami, Florida and will be played between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Brief glimpses have already been provided for some of the adverts that will be featured during the festivities, including one featuring RuPaul Drag Race alums Kim Chi and Miz Cracker.

Kim Chi and Miz Cracker will make history when they appear in an advert for Sabra hummus.

In a teaser for the advert which the company posted onto its YouTube channel last week, Miz Cracker attempts to put on a football helmet over one of her huge wigs.

‘I hope this doesn’t give me helmet hair,’ she says, while Kim Chi watches and eats hummus.

Miz Cracker, 35, is a New York-based queen who appeared on the 10th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2018.

32-year-old Kim Chi made headlines when she became the first South Korean-American contestant on the show who made all the way to the finale of season 8.

Another ad that will be making its way on television screens shows Stranger Things actress Winona Ryder visiting the Minnesota town that inspired her moniker.

Visiting the little town of Winona, she met the locals in the Square Space advertisement.

Explaining how she came to be named after the city, which was in turn named after a Native American girl, she said: ‘My mom was in a laundromat and saw a pamphlet about The Legend Of Winona, a Native American girl the town was named for.

‘She bent over to pick it up and she went into labor and that’s how I got my name.’

And Winona adds: ‘The laundromat is gone now but I got to see where it was.’

The original Winona is said to have been the first-born child of Chief Wapasha III.
