'Bringing Up Bates' Star Lawson Bates Engaged to MCU Actor Tiffany Espensen

Another Bates boy is off the market. Lawson Bates of UPtv’s Bringing Up Bates is engaged to his girlfriend and MCU actor Tiffany Espensen after less than a year of dating. The reality TV personality proposed during the couple’s recent trip to Italy. They announced their relationship in February 2021. 

Lawson Bates and Tiffany Espensen to say ‘I do’ 

Lawson announced his engagement to Tiffany on Instagram. She appeared in the Disney XD series Kirby Buckets as Belinda from 2014 to 2017. She also played Cindy Moon in Spider-Man Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War. 

“Tiff, I don’t have a lot of words, because you’ve been taking my breath away ever since I met you. Getting to know you this past year has made more brighter days and memories than I could’ve ever dreamed,” Lawson wrote in his post announcing the news. “I cannot wait to make a lifetime more of them with you! Thank you for saying ‘YES’ to our forever.”

In her Instagram post, Tiffany called her fiancé her “best friend.” 

“All my greatest prayers are wrapped up in you,” she wrote. “You bring joy to my life and I am so madly in love with you.”

Another ‘Bringing Up Bates’ cast member just got married 

Lawson — who is one of 19 children — is not the first member of the Bates family to get engaged this year. His brother Nathan Bates proposed to his girlfriend Esther Keyes in May 2021. The pair married on Oct. 23. 

Lawson and Nathan’s sister Katie Bates also got engaged to Travis Clark in April 2021. Their wedding is set for December 2021. 

Lawson and Tiffany have yet to announce a wedding date. But the Bringing Up Bates family tends to favor short engagements, so it seems likely that a wedding will happen sometime in early 2022. 

Some people hoped Lawson Bates might date Jana Duggar

Lawson’s engagement to Tiffany will dash the dreams of any fans who were holding out hope he might end up joining forces with a member of another big reality TV family. 

For years, rumors swirled that Lawson might be courting a member of the Duggar family, stars of the now-canceled TLC series Counting On. Specifically, he was linked to Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s eldest daughter Jana Duggar. Fans pointed to supposedly flirty social media comments as well as deleted photos as signs that a relationship was brewing behind-the-scenes. But the two never announced a courtship. 

There were also rumors that Lawson may have been interested in dating Jana’s younger sister Jinger Duggar prior to her marriage to former pro soccer player Jeremy Vuolo in 2016.
