Ariana Grande is the latest celebrity to share her thoughts on the deadly outbreak of the coronavirus.

The 26-year-old singer urged her fans to stop being 'stupid' when it comes to blatantly disregarding the recommended guidelines put in place to stop the spread of the highly contagious virus.

Taking to Twitter , the 'Break Up With Your Girlfriend' hit-maker insisted that her fans came across as 'stupid and privileged' as they continued to congregate together, go on nights out and attend public events.

Ariana insisted that if young people continue to disregard self-isoloation guidelines, they will be putting the older generations at serious risk.

She then hit home the fact that the sickness will mean a lot of people will lose their loved ones, and by people refusing to stay at home, those number of deaths will only increase by the day.

Sharing a rather frightening summary of the coronavirus on Twitter with her young fans, Ariana began: "I keep hearing from a surprising amount of people statements like 'this isn't a big deal'.

"Or 'we'll be fine', 'we still have to go about our lives' and it's really blowing my mind."

The star continued by claiming that she 'understands' if her fans felt this way a number of weeks ago, but as the death toll rises every single day across the world, there is no excuse for people to be sensible now.

"I understand if that is how you felt some weeks ago, but please read about what is going on around you.

"Please open your eyes and don't turn a blind eye to it".

The star urged her fans and followers to take the devastating outbreak seriously and insisted that it was 'incredibly selfish' not to at such a pivotal point in time.

She continued: "It is incredibly dangerous and selfish to take this situation that lightly.

"The 'we will be fine because we are young' mindset is putting people who aren't young and/or healthy in a lot of danger".

Ariana finished off the statement by calling out her fans who sound 'stupid and privileged' by carrying on as if nothing is happening around them.

"You sound stupid and privileged and you need to care more about the people around you. Like now!"

Ariana's post has already received over 21,000 retweets and 84 thousand likes from fans who have 'come to their senses' after realising their wrongdoing.

Admitting that they haven't taken it seriously up until now, one fan tweeted: "Ari I'm so sorry. I didn't think it was as bad as it was but I promise to be better now and stay away from everyone. I don't want to make my grandma sick".

Another gushed: "This is why you're my idol. I have been keeping up with guidelines but I know I can do better, and I will".

"This is such a scary time, and we can all do our part to keep everyone around us safe. Thank you for posting this Queen!" a third commented.

While a fourth said: "I haven't been taking this as seriously as I should have. Thank you for opening my eyes".

"Staying indoors for the foreseeable future upon your recommendation. You really got me with this!" another quipped.

Ariana's post comes after the coronavirus was declared a global pandemic earlier this week.

As of today, the number of coronavirus cases in the US passed 3,000 as a top health official warned that life in America will change while the country fights the outbreak.
