Amy Childs labels Gemma Collins and James Argent’s relationship ‘toxic’ and hints she doesn’t think they will work

Reality star Amy Childs, 29, has revealed her “shock” over her The Only Way Is Essex friends Gemma Collins and James Argent’s “toxic” relationship.

Amy, who recently split from her son’s father Ritchie, shared her views on Gemma and Arg’s on-off relationship after the ups and downs of their romance played out during The GC’s recent reality series, Diva Forever.

Speaking about her friend Gemma in an interview with new! magazine, Amy revealed she hadn’t seen The GC for “six months”.

When asked if she thinks 37 year old Gemma and 31 year old Arg can make their relationship work, Amy said: “I think if you’re splitting up every week, getting back together and splitting again, that’s a toxic relationship.“

She added: “When I watched Gemma’s show I was quite shocked about their relationship.”

Amy’s comments come after viewers urged Gemma to dump “toxic p***k” Arg after he was seen mocking her snoring and demanding she bring Nando’s to him.

The GC’s loyal fans then slammed Arg’s behaviour towards Gemma, with one fan writing on Twitter: “I hate the way Arg talks to Gemma. At whatever opportunity he has, he seems to just knock her confidence down every single time.”

While another added: “Gemma is not a diva, she is in a toxic relationship & arg treats her so bad. I hope she leaves him!”

Later in the series, the couple split, with Gemma going to stay with her Real Housewives of Cheshire friend Dawn Ward, 46.

In another episode, Gemma heartbreakingly revealed James had called her a “fat joke and a car crash” in emotional scenes.

Speaking to Dawn on the ITVBe programme, Gemma said: “He says to me I’m a fat joke and a car crash. He says you’re only famous because you’re a fat girl. You’re the fat girl everyone laughs at.“

She added: “He only seems to want to be around me when its benefiting him. I can’t tell you the last time I was happy. I’m not sad, I’m over it.”

However, in a later interview on This Morning, James revealed Gemma had apologised to him and his parents after the dramatic Diva Forever scenes aired.

Sitting on the This Morning sofa, TOWIE star James said: “We've both done terrible things,” when asked about their arguments on the show.

James added that it “wasn’t nice to watch” Gemma in tears when the dramatic scenes aired.

Ruth then asked James if the couple have fallen out over the show, to which he replied: “Yeah it is a bit tough because it was filmed a few months ago and we had a bit of – it come at the wrong time, we were having a few rows.”

He added: “I think it was just bad timing. Gemma did come round to my parents' house and she apologised to me and my mum and dad.”

Gemma has yet to confirm if her and Arg are back together or not, but Arg appeared to confirm he and The GC were on in August when he shared a selfie of him with Gemma and wrote: “Love you @gemmacollins1,” with a red heart emoji.
