Aljaz Skorjanec breaks silence after sparking Strictly quit rumours with ‘farewell’ speech

Aljaz Skorjanec, 31, and Sara Davies, 37, became the latest dancing duo to leave Strictly Come Dancing last weekend, following a dance-off with Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin. The latter pair were saved by the judges and will perform as part of musicals week this Saturday. 

On the results show last night, the dancer gave an emotional speech about their departure, sparking concern that he could be leaving the show for good.

He said: “I’m going to miss you so much, I’ll miss dancing with you.

“I’m going to miss everything about this show.”

Fans were quick to query if his words meant the current series will be his last.

Taking to Instagram after the show, he shared a picture of the pair alongside a statement.

While he didn’t address the rumours, he wrote: “We have been having so much fun from day 1.

“It was such a joy to dance with you every single day for the last 10 weeks.

“You transformed yourself every single weekend into a beautiful dancer. A real testament to how working hard towards something, can make dreams come true.

“I LOVED every second of it! Thank you partner! @saradaviescc #haway.”

Many of his 508,000 followers flocked to his post to comment.

Strictly pro Amy Dowden commented: “Loved watching you each week! You should be so proud, my friend.”

Don Bags wrote: “I hope that wasn’t your goodbye to the show too Aljaz. You were both great. Hope to see you again next year x.”

Marilyn penned: “So so sad to see you both leave, loved your partnership.

“I hope that wasn’t a goodbye speech at the end, the show wouldn’t be the same without you Aljaz.”

Sara has also taken to her Instagram story this morning following their exit.

The Dragons’ Den star said she felt “a little bit lost” due to not training today.

“I should have been heading out to training with this fantastic guy,” she penned.

“I’ve been living my dream for the past 8 weeks, the people I’ve met, the friends I’ve made, the dancing I’ve learnt, I’ve just had the time of my life.”

She added she was “so gutted” her time on the show was over.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.35pm on BBC One.
