This Morning star Alison Hammond received the comment on Twitter, alongside a picture to prove that an unfortunate mishap had occurred. “My husband ordered your book for me and this is what I received,” @julieyorkie wrote in bemusement.

Alison’s memoir, You’ve Got To Laugh: Stories From A Life Lived To The Full, should have arrived with a full-colour photo portraying the TV personality’s broadly grinning face.

However, it instead featured an entirely blank cover.

A surprised Alison consequently replied in view of her almost 397,000 followers: “Send me your address and I’ll sort lovely.

“You need my face on the cover!”

Fortunately, Twitter users had a sense of humour when they learnt of the embarrassing misprint.

@RealDealComedy replied: “I bet it laughs when you open it though.”

Then @KissackRichard added a cheeky comment to the mix, joking: “I’d love your face on me.”

@Ash_470 quipped in agreement: “Alison’s face makes everything better.”

Meanwhile, @AliWinter joined in with the comment: “Well I’ve heard of a blank page but that’s ridiculous.”

Other Twitter fans used the opportunity to invite Alison round for tea at their homes.

Alison’s autobiography was released back in October and has been described in promotional material as “hilarious, heart-warming and joyful”.

The This Morning host is well-known for her hearty and infectious laugh – and she was sure to have used it to full effect when she realised a fan had opened the parcel only to find the front cover image was missing.

The Huffington Post reviewed the book by claiming her laugh was “like gold dust”.

Meanwhile the synopsis states: “Alison Hammond loves to laugh. And the nation laughs with her.

“Her sunny personality and zest for life have brought joy to millions and made her one of the UK’s best-loved television presenters.

“Known for her hilarious and unforgettable interviews with Hollywood A-listers, Alison is also responsible for countless classic moments of broadcasting gold – from getting stuck on a caravan door to delivering Christmas cash dressed as an elf.

Within the book, Alison praises her mother for encouraging her throughout her TV career, which included a short-lived stint on Big Brother in 2003.

The text continues that when she landed her dream job as a presenter on This Morning, “she found the joy in every day, the positives in any situation”.

“You’ve Got to Laugh gives a never-before-seen insight into Alison’s life: her loves, her losses – with a side order of gossip.

“As well as being a hugely entertaining and uplifting read, Alison’s story will inspire you to grab life with both hands and make the most of every single moment.”

Meanwhile, the woman who received a blank cover may well be following her idol’s advice – that “a day is wasted without laughter”.
