A great shampoo and conditioner are essential for hair care. With shampoo, apply to the roots, massage in, rinse and repeat. Apply conditioner to mid-lengths and ends so as not to weigh hair down. We love these gentle combos.

Road Test

This week I try …an anti-ageing facial

Lowdown

I am in the new Ella Baché salon in David Jones’ Elizabeth Street store, in Sydney, for a much-needed Stop the Clock Facial Treatment. This is built around wonder ingredient spirulina, with its exfoliating and antioxidant properties. Samantha, my therapist, starts with a soothing cleanse while also massaging my neck and shoulders, then uses a brush to paint on a peel, which tingles slightly.

After towelling this off, she massages in the soothing serum by hand, then uses two massage tools made of jade and shaped to follow the contours of your face and help with circulation and lymphatic drainage. Finally, she applies an infusion-soaked cloth mask and gives me a hand and arm massage.

Pain factor Only the slight tingling when the peel is applied.

Downtime One hour.

Results By the following day, my skin has lost its dullness and my make-up goes on really easily.

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist (jurlique.com, $37 for 50ml) is a tweak on a cult favourite. I keep it desk-side for an instant refresh as it gives an immediate hydration boost.

As a bonus, it can be applied over make-up thanks to its formula of hand-picked rose, extract of marshmallow root and aloe vera.

Ask Stephanie

How do I find a good concealer?
For under the eye, go for a concealer one shade lighter than your skin tone. For the rest of your face, pick one that matches the your foundation. For precision, use a concealer brush such as M.A.C 195 Concealer Brush (maccosmetics.com.au, $47).
